For the past year, I’ve been illustrating L. Frank Baum’s novel the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and now I’m getting it printed as a nice hardcover book!! You can check out the Kickstarter and preorder the book if you like, and I’d really appreciate any help in getting the word out! Thank you so much.It was a very fun project, and low-intensity enough that I did ok at juggling it with Vattu and other things. It’s a very fun book if you haven’t read it; much weirder and more dreamlike than the movie or other popular adaptations… I tried to emphasize the sense of being lost in a vast, colorful place in the illustrations. There’s about 100 of them and you can see them and some process at this blog here.

The Kickstarter for my illustrated edition of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz is live! If you’d like to support this project, and/or get a copy of the hardcover book of your very own, I hope you’ll check it out!

I’ve made 24 full-page illustrations and around 70 spot illustrations to go throughout the complete original text, in a 192-page book. Most of them have been posted on this tumblr. I’ve tried to support the text without distracting from it, and I’ve emphasized the sense of being lost in a strange, colorful place. I’m really happy with how it’s turned out so far, and having it as a nice printed book has always been an exciting possibility!! It is looking like a thing that will probably happen, thanks to Make That Thing and YOU YOU YOU

Thank you!

Hey buddies. Book 3 is underway and I’m swamped as usual. Currently working ahead for my next convention: MICE, this weekend in Cambridge, MA! I’ve never done this one before but it looks very fun and friendly and I like the work of a lot of exhibitors. After that, my last show for the year is Locust Moon Festival in Philadelphia, on October 25. I’m in the process of nailing down plans for Spring 2015 shows. More traveling, forever.
The Patreon is going well, and since we reached the $300 goal, I’ll be sending out a big collection of sketchbook material in the next few days to EVERYONE who backs at any amount by October 2. Seriously just back some amount and then cancel before your card gets charged. I just want you to have this thing.
We’re almost done with SCENE NUMBER 1 of BOOK NUMBER 3 of Vattu. Got some places to go with this story. Thank you for reading.
